Recommended Homework
Posted on June 26, 2012
Good morning, you hard working socialites! This is the inaugural post for HWM’s new weekly blog installment: Recommended Homework. Every Monday we will be suggesting unique cultural events around the world curated by our friends, collaborators, and co-conspirators. Look out for HWM-approved events in your hometown!
For the week of June 24-30th, if your home is in…
Edinburgh, Scotland
We suggest buying tickets to watch the award-winning New Tango Orquesta’s hypnotic performance in celebration of the world premiere of Maja Borg’s new film, Future My Love, produced by our friend Sonja Henrici. The concert will take place on Wednesday, June 27th – for more information, go here.
New Tango Orquesta performs “Vesper”
New York City, NY
We suggest you sign up for one of Mono No Aware’s Filmmaking Workshops at the Center for Performance Research! Courses are offered in 16mm and 8mm filmmaking, animation, sound recording, and more. All materials needed to complete each course are included in the cost of attendance - this could be the least expensive film you ever make!
New Haven, Connecticut
We suggest you head on down to the 8th annual Ideat Village Short Film Festival (founded by HWM’s own Lizzie Theis), this Friday, June 29th at 9pm. The film festival is just one of the many free, DIY events taking place during the Ideat Village Arts and Music Festival, which showcases non-juried artwork by local artists.
Now, we hope you’ve written this in your notepads, Google Calendars, iPhones, or whatever the kids use these days. We won’t be checking up on you, but feel free to comment below if you complete any of the above assignments. Have a great week!
